Precautions for the day

On the occasional days when I am able to indulge in some extra snooze time I’m usually glad but some days when I finally rise from my peaceful slumber I’m met with a migraine right from the get-go. So off to the medicine cabinet I go barely able to think much less function with half-open eyes just hoping to select the right bottle, down a couple pills, reach for the ice pack and back to bed I go.

How do you greet your day as you spring from bed?  Do you rush out the door and down life’s busy lane taking on the daily twist and turns of life or do you seek guidance, strength and wisdom first to be able to handle the day?

I also should say on those days I “sleep in” I actually do get up 5-6 am “ish” and have a cup of coffee because I can drink that stuff and go straight back to bed (weird I know) but then I don’t end up with a headache later. I call this “taking precautions”….

Taking precautions parallels praying. I know I need something so I just do it then can go on with my day securely knowing I have help along the way.

Just as you wouldn’t try to start your car without the keys or go to the store to buy something without funds to bring it home why try to begin your day without prayer? He stands ready, willing and able to hear any thoughts, concerns, woes and celebrations.

Prayer IS the key and a precaution. Prayer gives direction, discernment and a holy hedge of protection. It also relieves anxiety, stress and a myriad of other negatives!

Much like my morning coffee is my “precaution” so is daily prayer. It is not a “need” it is a “MUST’! Securing that bond is a privilege and opportunity to communicate with my Heavenly Father  for all I will encounter throughout the day.

Remember this– what we have been given is temporary and is only on loan to us while we are here on earth. We have a responsibility to nurture and maintain it. So whatever is on your agenda today I encourage you to lift it to the Lord and not only to ask for guidance but also the ears and heart to hear His word and answers to your path in life.

Bless and be blessed! Today is the day the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad int it! Psalm 118:24
